AYOM staff have selected their charity partners for 2019. This time we have selected a national charity and a local charity. News on events to come soon.

Charity partners revealed for 2019-20

AYOM are pleased to announce its charity partners for the coming year. Following last year’s success, fundraising for local charity the Space Centre, AYOM are now supporting 2 charities.

Macmillan

The choice to have 2 charities was made to benefit both local and the wider community. Our first selection is Macmillan cancer support. Known for years as one of Britain’s largest charities, Macmillan provides healthcare support. Specialist care, support and guidance for those living with cancer is their remit. Cancer is something many of us may have experienced through a family member or friend

Well known for their iconic coffee mornings, Macmillan will be supported by a number of other activities. Staff were asked to select charities and vote for who we nominated. After this process, Macmillan has been runaway leaders. We look forward to helping in whichever ways we can over the next 12 months.

Derian House

Our second selection is a local charity to ensure we assist our local community. Derian House is located just a short drive away in neighbouring Chorley. Dedicated to care of children with life limiting illnesses, Derian House offers a lot of help. Derian House provide vital care to families dealing with life limiting illness. They provide care during illness and bereavement support for families.

They hold regular fundraising events we would like to be part of as well as organising our own in support. We look forward to doing what we can over the next year. Our fundraising begins in just a few weeks time. Our first event is a staff member taking part in a charity wrestling event.

Last year’s efforts

Last year’s charity, the Space Centre have thanked AYOM for our efforts. Staff undertook activities from bake sales to raffles, white collar events to even scaling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. We raised thousands for this cause and are happy to have provided support. We are especially proud to help a charity just a few minutes from our doorstep. We hope the Space Centre can continue to provide great services for autistic children and those with brain injuries. The work they do help many families in the wider Preston area.

AYOM’s general manager Marie and managing director Robert gave their thoughts on having 2 charities. This opposed to just 1 last year.

Rob: “We felt with our growing CSR plans, a local charity and a UK wide charity would be a great fit for us. We want to do more to support charities and communities, including locally.”

“I’m very happy with the charities selected by our staff. We hope to raise a very credible amount through events this year.”

Marie: “Since taking my general manager position I wanted to improve HR strategies and focus on CSR. We want to evolve as a business. Although fundraising is only a small stepping stone, it is a great way to unite staff and help the community.”

“I can’t thank those who go out of their way like the 3 peaks team last year. I’d like to pre-emptively thank those planning to run a Tough Mudder this year. Everything we do will help our chosen charities. We always hope staff feel a part of a family here. Fundraising via these types of events typifies our core values of Integrity, commitment and empathy.”
