An intrepid group of Are You Owed Money Ltd staff have just agreed to take on a mammoth task. In aid of our newly nominated charity of the year, staff members will be attempting the ‘Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge’. With 4 months to go until the attempt, training has already begun for many.
The Space Centre
Moving quickly since our announcement earlier this week, the firm quickly jumped into action. Aside from regular fundraising and participation in centre activities, the staff wanted to show their support by undertaking a supreme team challenge. That challenge was selected as the 3 peaks.
The Space Centre in Preston is our nominated charity for the year. During the year we intend to host a number of internal fundraising events, take part in Centre organised events and undergo external fundraising.
The Space Centre is located a very short walk from our head office and provides a service hailed as an amazing experience by many parents. The centre has a number of sensory rooms, a beautiful garden, meeting rooms and group playrooms. The centre provides a fun, engaging, therapeutic experience for children suffering with various brain injuries, autism, cerebral palsy and more.
The 3 Peaks
The Yorkshire 3 peaks consist of a 24 mile course stretching across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The course contains ascent of over 1500 meters and is ideally completed in under 12 hours. This timescale makes up the ‘challenge’ of the 3 peaks.
Training has already begun for a number of the team. With goals including weight loss, added fitness and the sense of accomplishment post challenge, plenty wanted to be involved. The date set initially for the challenge is to be Saturday 21st July. Around 12 team members are scheduled to take part at present.
The challenge date gives 4 months for the team to prep. New walking boots, jackets and canes are already on the list as well as gym memberships and practice walks. The entire team are eager to do our part for our nominated charity. With the 3 peaks challenge, we already have what could be the highlight of our fundraising year ready to go.
Get involved and donate!
The challenge has a JustGiving page dedicated to the team’s exploits. If you’d like to stay up to date with the latest news in preparation please visit. If you do have the ability and can spare something, no matter how little, please do donate and help us raise money for an amazing local cause.
With even the most basic light bulb in their sensory rooms totalling in the region of £180, every penny counts. Help us reach our goal of doing all we can for The Space Centre Preston. We hope to conquer the 3 peaks and give the centre a boost they will greatly appreciate.
